Raymond Davis Jr. (14 octobre 1914 – 31 mai 2006) était un chimiste et un physicien américain, lauréat du prix Nobel de physique en 2002.

Jeunesse et premières années de carrière

Il était né à Washington DC, où son père était photographe au National Bureau of Standards. He spent several years as a choir boy to please his mother, although he could not carry a tune. He enjoyed attending the concerts at the Watergate before air traffic was loud enough to drown out the music. His brother Warren, 14 months younger than he, was his constant companion in boyhood. He graduated in chimie de l' université du Maryland à College Park en 1938. He also received a masters degree from that school et un Ph.D. de l'université de Yale en chimie physique en 1942.
